Rhode Island Unemployment Extension

Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) is a federally funded unemployment assistance program designed to help individuals who have exhausted regular UI benefits and still continue to fulfil eligibility criteria.

As of 28 Dec, 2013, EUC has come to an end and will continue to remain unavailable until the Senate takes further actions.

Extended Benefits (EB) are state funded Re-employment Assistance programs designed for individuals who have exhausted both regular benefits and federally funded EUC. Availability varies from state to state and is usually dependant on current unemployment rates and hence is subject to availability. EB is also unavailable in the state of RI currently.

Extended Benefits (EB) – Program Ended

Under federal law, as of 2019, EUC benefits are no longer available.

Extensions for collecting UI payments are in effect only during periods of high unemployment and only if the state or federal government take specific action to provide extended benefits.

As of now, claimants have no option other than to depend on regular UI benefits which lasts for a period of up to 26 weeks. Claimants are requested to visit the state’s DOL website to find out about currently available RA programs.
