The new numbers for the New Mexico unemployment that have been released recently show some positive sign. As per the numbers released by U.S. Department of Labor, the unemployment rate as shown a slight dip from 8.8 percent in March to 8.7 percent in April. The Department also says that New Mexico lost 16,000 jobs since April, 2009.

The good news is that twenty six million dollars has been released for the unemployed in New Mexico. This is coming from the U.S. Department of Labor as New mexico qualified for the money by allowing the part-time employees to claim unemployment benefits. The state also gave dependents allowances for unemployment insurance beneficiaries. The money released now will be used for paying benefits and administering the unemployment insurance program.
The unemployment rate of New Mexico has been on an average ranking. The leisure and hospitality sector added 1,300 jobs and the retail industry added 300 jobs. But at the same time, the health care and the educational sector dropped 500 jobs between February and March.
