How much is unemployment in Wyoming?

The amount of money you get for unemployment benefits changes. It depends on how much money you made during a certain time frame. As of 2023, the most you can receive each week is $560. The least amount of money you can get each week is $40. These numbers can change every year, based on a rule made by the state of Wyoming.

How long does Wyoming unemployment take to process?

You can file for unemployment benefits every Sunday for the week before. Usually, your request will be processed within two working days. This is as long as there are no problems with the information provided. If there is a problem, you will get a letter in the mail within five working days. This letter will tell you what you need to do to fix your claim so you can receive benefits.

How long do you have to work in Wyoming to get unemployment?

In Wyoming, like most other states, you have to work four out of the last five 3-month periods in order to qualify for unemployment benefits. This is known as your “base period.”

For instance, if you ask for benefits in October of 2023, the base period would be from July 1, 2021 to March 31, 2023.

What are the consequences of committing unemployment insurance fraud?

  • Repayment of overpaid money. A 5% penalty will be added to the amount and 5 % every following month until the amount is paid off.
  • Disqualification from receiving the benefits for a period of 52 weeks
  • Criminal prosecution
  • If convicted, possible disqualification from benefits for an additional two years.

If I go away on vacation or if I fall sick for one or more weeks during UI, what will happen?

Claim interruption for any reason other than employment, will require a claim reopening so that you can continue enjoying the benefits. You can re-open your claim via telephone or Internet.

Am I allowed to file an unemployment claim with another state?

Yes. You are allowed to file an unemployment claim with another state if you reside in Wyoming if most of your wages were from a different state.

If you have wages from multiple states you can also use the combined wage claim. In this process, you can request that the wages be combined by transferring it to the state you currently reside in.

Will the state of Wyoming take my benefits if I have an overpayment in another state?

Yes. The state of Wyoming is a member of the IRORA. This is an organization of states that work together to recover overpayments through an offset. Hence, if another state has informed us that you have an overpayment in that state, Wyoming will offset them.
