Nevada Unemployment Weekly Claims

Nevada Unemployment Weekly Claims

The Nevada unemployment insurance program provides temporary financial assistance to unemployed workers while they search for new job opportunities.

In order to maintain your eligibility in the program, the state requires that all claimants submit a weekly claim. Once this claim is submitted, your weekly unemployment benefit can be processed.

Weekly claims maintain unemployment eligibility

After submitting an initial application for UI benefits, individuals will need to file a weekly claim to verify their ongoing unemployment status. Each weekly claim will detail any income earned throughout the week, as well as the work search activities performed to find a new full-time job.

Your weekly unemployment insurance claim will begin on Sunday at 12:01 a.m. and end the following Saturday at midnight. You cannot submit a weekly filing until the entire week has passed.

When submitting your weekly claim for Nevada unemployment, you will be asked:

  • What kind of work search activities you performed, including:
    • Activity date
    • Business name, contact name, and title
    • Employer contact information
    • Type of work
    • New or re-contact
    • Results of contact
  • Whether you worked during the week
  • Any wages you earned
  • Whether you were mentally and physically able to work
  • If you were available to work
  • If you refused any job offers
  • Whether you attended school or training

Be sure to review all the information you provide carefully before submitting. You want to make sure everything is as accurate as possible. Lying or withholding information to receive benefits is considered Nevada unemployment fraud.

You will want to continue filing weekly claims, even if you are going through the appeal process. Failure to do so may result in a delay or denial of unemployment insurance benefits for each week you didn’t file.

How to file weekly claims online

Filing a weekly claim online is easy. All you have to do is follow these steps:

  • Visit nv.gov
  • Click “For UI Claimants”
  • Click “Sign in as an Existing Claimant”
  • Log in with the username and password you set up during your initial claim
  • Under “Eligible Weeks,” click the week for which you wish to claim benefits
  • Complete the work search activity log and answer the questions
  • Review your answers carefully on the “Confirm Answers” screen
  • Click the “My answers are correct” button
  • Click “Yes, I agree—file my claim” to submit

If the department needs additional information to process your weekly claim, you may be taken to a “fact finding” screen to answer additional questions.

How to file weekly claims by phone

In order to file weekly claims by phone, you will need to call the UI Claim Center for the area you live and work. Weekly claims will be filed using the automated QuickClaim system.

Answer the questions asked by the automated prompts, and then wait for a confirmation that your claim has been accepted.

You can file your weekly claim by phone Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you have any questions about how to file your weekly claim, you will want to call back and select the option to talk to a live representative.

How do I know if my continued claim was successfully submitted?

You will receive a confirmation number once your unemployment claim is accepted—both when submitting online or via phone. You will want to print or write this confirmation number down.

You can also visit the “claimant homepage” through the online portal to see the status of your weekly filing, including whether a benefit payment has been processed or if the department needs additional information.

How to collect payment

Unemployment compensation is distributed through the Way2Go prepaid debit card that was sent to you when you first applied for Nevada unemployment benefits. You should receive it within 7-10 days of filing. If you did not receive this card, you will need to contact the UI claims center.

It typically takes two business days after submitting a claim to process payment. You can check the balance of the card to see if benefit payments have been posted by visiting goprogram.com.

You can also visit our Nevada Unemployment Calculator to get an estimate of what your weekly benefit amount will be.

Can I move funds to my personal checking or savings account?

Yes! Your debit card should come with instructions on how to set up a direct deposit from your prepaid card to your personal banking account. However, should you have any questions, you can contact the Way2Go customer service line by calling (844) 542-1115 or visiting goprogram.com.
